Winifred May Latta was born on July 28th, 1930, to Robert and Hazel Butts in Gustine, CA.
"Winnie" grew up in the Cottonwood area on Butts Road in Gustine, attending Cottonwood Grammar School and Gustine High. In 1947 she married John Thomas Latta, they would go on to farm English Walnuts for many years. Winnie was an accomplished Equestrian since youth; she raised horses and kept a standing stud for Haflinger horses.
Being raised with three brothers, she had become an accomplished marksman with rifles, pistols and shotguns. She hunted ducks, geese, and black-tailed deer with her husband. Together they made many mule deer hunts on the Middle Fork Salmon River in Idaho during the 1950s and 60s.
Winifred is survived by her daughter Jennifer Latta (Harry Strawbridge), and son Russell Latta (Michelle).
She is preceded in death by her daughter Bonnie Ayer and brothers, George E. Butts, James R. Butts, and Robert A. Butts.
Services for her will be held privately.
