Valrie Lynn Brown slipped into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She was at home when she drew her last breath.
Valrie was born on April 14, 1962 to Arnold and Ethel Duncan in Pacoima, California.
Valrie married Larry Zimmerman Brown on March 21, 2015.
Valrie served in the military US Army and when she was honorably discharged decided to make a career in the healthcare system as an RN. Valrie went on to earn her nursing degree. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the Veterans Affairs health care system. Valerie retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Health Clinic after 30 years in June 2022.
Valrie loved to cook, entertain family and friends. She also loved to volunteer when needed especially when it came to helping young people. Valrie was affiliated with 3 different churches, Ebenezer Baptist church of Denver Colorado under Rev Dewayne Moore, and New Bethany Missionary Babtist Church of Pueblo Colorado under Pastor Orval Miles. The same church where later her husband Rev Larry Zimmerman Brown became Pastor. She instantly became first lady, and her responsibilities and duties became on the job training with the help of previous first lady, she soon adapted and created programs to increase relationships within the entire membership and community.
She was an amazing organizer and loved to help people. Valrie is preceded in death by her parents Mr Arnold and Ethel Duncan, her brother Clarence Williams and her loving husband Rev Larry Zimerman Brown.
Valrie is survived by two sisters Mrs Rochelle Long (John) of Pasadena,California and Sylvia Green of Philadelphia Pa. and three brothers, Wardal Houston (Carol) of Seattle Washington, Michael Duncan (Janae) of Salt Lake City,Utah, Darwin Duncan (Fariha) of Atwater, California. One Aunt, Ms Ernestine Dewalt of Lancaster, California and two Uncles Mr James Wilson of Chandler Arizona and Bobby Bush of Glendale California. As well a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Her special love for her God Children as well; Sage, Lotus and Koah Pennethy of Pueblo Colorado.
