Terri L. Haley, a longtime community member of Merced, passed away peacefully at home in the late afternoon hours of February 4, 2025.
Terri was born on April 12, 1948 in Visalia, California to Elaine & Kenneth Ruell. She grew up in Visalia and attended Redwood High School, later relocating to Merced, California in 1971. Terri started off working as a waitress before dedicating 30 years to Farmers Insurance Company as a Claims Agent.
Terri meant and will continue to mean so much to so many people in this life. She was a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, a friend, and a fabulously passionate gardener. Her infectious positivity is an aspect of her legacy that will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. Terri was a woman who exuded unwavering strength and resiliency over the entirety of her life, especially as a single mother to three children. Known to much of her family as “Grandma Terri” and “GG”, she shared her passions for baking, crafting, and gardening with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Terri was an avid reader that really saw the value in a good story and the knowledge one can harness from amongst the pages of a good book. She enjoyed regularly meeting with her lifelong friends made while working at Farmers to play dominoes.
Terri is preceded in death by her parents Elaine & Kenneth and her son John McKay. She is survived by her children – Kathy Davis (McKay) and Israel Haley and wife Carie Haley (Dahlgren), her grandchildren John, Lori, Steven, Joshua, Jacob, Katelyn, Jessica, Brooklyn, and Molly, her great grandchildren Aiden, Annabella, Skylar, Leanne, Harley, and Aubree, her sisters Deborah & Marty Ruell and family, and her brother Fred Ruell & wife Laura and family.
A memorial service will be held at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel in Atwater, Ca on Friday February 21, 2025 at 10am with a reception to follow.
