Rosalie Ann Heppner passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Turlock, California at the age of 87 years old. Rosalie was a resident of Merced County for 68 years, living in Merced and Winton, before moving to Turlock in 2017. She was 11 years old when she moved from Ottumwa, Iowa to Merced, California. She attended middle school and high school in Merced, before leaving for Oakland to attend the Kaiser Foundation School for Nursing. After graduation, she returned to Merced and worked for the Public Health Department as a public health nurse. In 1964, she met and married Clark Heppner of Winton. She left nursing to raise her two sons (Grant and Aaron). Clark and Rosalie lived in Winton and grew nectarines and later grew almonds.
Rosalie was active in numerous local organizations and groups throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Hospital Assistance League (HAL) and raised money for local hospitals. She was one of the founding members and later President of the Merced County Genealogical Society. Rosalie also founded and was President of the Winton Historical Society and served as the President of the Winton Old Timers group. Rosalie is a published author as she co-wrote “Memories of Winton 1911-1950”.
Rosalie is preceded in death by her husband Clark (married for 55 years), who passed away in 2019 and her son Grant who passed away in 1995. She is survived by her son Aaron, who lives in Hendersonville, Tennessee with his wife Laura and two children Carly (16) and Logan (13).
Rosalie will be missed but not forgotten.
A memorial service will be held for the immediate family only.
