Robert R. Wilcox, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, following a short illness. Age 83 years.
The son of Mamie Wilcoxon Freeman and Charles Olevers Freeman, Robert grew up in Saginaw Michigan. He was born in Detroit Michigan on August 23, 1941 and attended Saginaw High School where he graduated on June 4, 1959 and Bay City Junior College where he graduated on June 9, 1961.
Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Master Sargent while making the military his career with 26 years of active duty service.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years; Nettie Wilcox. Two children, Franklin (Kimberly) Wilcox, Robin (Alberto) Gonzalez. Three grandchildren; Rafael Ceja, Mayline and Dominic Gonzalez. Two siblings; Esther and Janette Freeman. Robert will be fondly remembered for his love of his family, his quick wit and love of sports.
The service honoring his life was held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located at 32053 West McCabe Road, Santa Nella, in Merced County, California.
