Richard Alexander Obituary

Our father, Richard J. Alexander, was a man deeply rooted in his home. Born and raised in Atwater, he spent the full 91 years of his life here. He only left the United States once -a special journey to Acapulco, Mexico, to ask for our mom Hermelinda's hand in marriage before they wed

Together, they raised four children Angelica Lua, Dora, Richard, and Adriana Alexander. Our dad Richard was the middle of three boys and was preceded in death by his brothers and his parents, Vincent and Isabel Alexander.

Growing up, Dad attended school in Atwater and served as an altar boy at St. Anthony's Church. He loved to talk and was quite the historian, always ready to share stories of the past and the community he called home. Dad worked as a farm laborer for most of his life, demonstrating a lifelong work ethic and a deep connection to the land. After his years in the fields, he worked at Procter and Gamble, until his retirement.

Dad had a couple of things he was very passionate about. First and foremost was his family and their well-being. He also professed his life to Christ and was baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he served faithfully and fervently as Head Deacon, taught the Junior Sabbath School Class, and was assistant treasurer-a role held until his recent passing.

His daily life was a reflection of his devotion. He would spend the first part of every morning reading his Bible and his Sabbath School lesson, followed by heartfelt prayer for himself, his family and his friends.

His other great passion was being a faithful fan of the SF Giants and SF 49ers, supporting them no matter the season.

Our dad leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, second cousins, church family, and friends.
