Our mother Rebecca "Becky" Friesen Jantz was born to Jacob E. and Agnes Wiens Friesen at Montezuma, KS., on April 17, 1927. She departed this life on October 5, 2024 at Grace Home in Livingston, CA., reaching the age of ninety-seven years. Her early years were spent in Montezuma Kansas until nine years of age. During the dust bowl years, they left Kansas traveling to California in a truck with her parents and siblings.
At a young age, she felt her lost condition and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite by Min. Carl Dirks. Mom was faithful to her vows she made until the end.
Mom met our Dad Ade Jantz while working at Puccinelli Dehydrator in Livingston. They were married at the Livingston Congregation on May 30, 1948. In 1952, they bought a small farm on Peach Ave., where they spent the rest of their life together. Our parents were no stranger to hard times and tragedy. In 1974 their son, Arlen, was taken in a tragic accident.
Mom began working outside the home to help financially. It became her service to the community to serve as a housekeeper for many in the community for many years. Mom remained on the farm until four years ago when she moved to Grace Home in Livingston, where she was tenderly cared for and loved. Mom enjoyed reasonably good health until two weeks before passing.
Those surviving her are two sons: Lonnie and Paulette, and Faron and Pat of Livingston, CA., one daughter Twila and Donavan Koehn of Tonasket, WA., daughter-in-law Judy and Harlen Penner of Barron, Wisconsin, thirteen grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, one sister Bertha Erb of Turlock, CA., and sister-in-law Lela Wedel of Durham, KS. Preceding her in death are her husband, one son Arlen, her parents, two brothers, five sisters, and one infant granddaughter.
