Peggy Ann Gordon, born in Fresno, California to Theodore Campbell and Peggy (Atwater) Campbell, passed away peacefully in Merced County. Peggy moved from Fresno to Merced in 1946 and remained a beloved member of the Merced community until her death. In 1949, she married LeRoy Gordon and together they raised two daughters, Saundra and Debra. Dedicated to her family, Peggy's primary role was as a loving homemaker, though she also worked at the bakery department of Safeway in Merced. Following the death of her husband LeRoy in 2003, Peggy relocated to Atwater, where she found new purpose and joy. She joined the United Methodist Church, where she formed dear friendships and generously donated her time. After the loss of her son-in-law, James, Peggy moved in with her daughter, Saundra. She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, sons-in-law James and Mark, her granddaughter Jody, her sister MaryLou, and her parents. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Saundra Herrera and Debra Gordon, as well as her grandchildren: Steve (Angela) Herrera, Bryan Herrera, Melisa (Jason) Colby, and Craig (Hannah) Rohning. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Adeline, James, Chloe, Joshua, Jacob, Alexandria, and Isabella. A viewing for Peggy will be held on February 27 at Wilson Mortuary in Atwater from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Graveside services will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Plainsburg Cemetery on Gillette Ave., Merced, California, at 12:00 PM. Peggy Ann Gordon will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. She touched many lives with her kindness and generosity and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
