Patricia Jean Braun

Patricia J. Souba Braun, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, at the age of 76.

Patricia was born and raised in Fillmore County, Nebraska, to her loving parents, Arlene and Lester Souba. From an early age, Patricia demonstrated a warm heart and a natural desire to help others. In 1971, Patricia married the love of her life, Robert Braun, beginning a partnership that would span over five decades. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared memories.

Patricia’s career in education was one that touched the lives of many. She began her teaching journey in Atwater School District, where she dedicated 25 years as a Home Economics teacher and Vice Principal. Her passion for teaching and helping students thrive never wavered. Patricia’s caring and thoughtful nature extended beyond the classroom as she also served as the head of Merced County Head Start for five years before retiring.

Outside of her professional life, Patricia was known for her kindness, generosity, and warmth. She found joy in baking and often shared her homemade treats with family, friends, and neighbors, leaving behind memories of delicious cookies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls that will be missed by all who had the privilege to enjoy them. Above all, Patricia treasured the time spent with her family, whether gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories, or simply being together.

Patricia’s legacy lives on in her beloved husband, Robert, her children Scott Braun and his wife Kristie, Jamie Braun, and Kari Pruett. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Jenna Braun, Allison Braun, Tanner Pruett, and Teagan Pruett. Her love and influence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Patricia’s spirit will forever live on in the lives she touched, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
