Michael Louis Correia was born Feb.16, 1948 in Los Banos, to parents Louis and Connie Correia. He was raised in Merced County and graduated from Merced High. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the Navy. He was a decorated Viet Nam veteran who served on the USS Lofberg DD-759 and the USS Abraham Lincoln. He was proud to have served his country. Mike enjoyed RV camping, boating, and fishing at Lake McSwain. He loved restoring antique Farmall tractors and participated in antique tractor pulls and parades in Mariposa and Chowchilla.
Mike is survived by sisters Dianne Correia, Mary Nightengale, Irene Johnson and Catharine Tarabini, and brothers Dave Correia, James Correia and Patrick Correia. In addition, he had many wonderful nieces and nephews who loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Louie and Connie, brother, Bob Correia, sisters, Elizabeth Marion, Barbara Steger, Janice Marks, and Margaret Silva.
Though we will miss him dearly, we take comfort knowing that he now resides with his Savior, Jesus.
Please join us on Friday, October 11th at Our Lady of Mercy in Merced for recitation of the rosary at 10:30am and funeral Mass at 11:00am.
