Mary Souza

Mary passed away July 28th after a short illness. Mary was born Dec 20th 1929 to Tony
and Maria Martin in Atwater Ca. The family lived in Ceres and Escalon in her early
years, before returning to Atwater. They had a family dairy, and raised various crops on
the farm. Mary graduated from Merced High School, and worked at the Pine Cone
Restaurant, before starting her 40 year career with Crocker National Bank.
Mary loved gardening, there wasn’t anything she couldn’t grow. If it went into the
ground, it was sure to bloom. Mary also loved and enjoyed taking photos of everything
and everyone.
Mary leaves behind her Daughter Darlene M. Souza-McCart (Brian) Daughter in-laws
Terry Souza and Robbie Souza, Grandchildren Samantha L. Bliss (Stan) Jacob McCart
(Hollyanne) Samuel McCart, Mary Tess Souza (Clayton) 4 Great Grandsons and 1
Great Grand Daughter on the way. She also leaves behind several nieces and
nephews, and Great nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Tony and Maria Martin, Baby sister,
Husband Frank L. Souza Sr. Grand Daughter Crystal Souza, Sons Frank L. Souza Jr,
Gary M. Souza and Sister Rosie McCollum.
The family would like to thank Guardian Angel Care Facility and Bristol Hospice for the
wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Mary’s name
to Bristol Hospice of Merced.
Funeral services will be at the Shrine of Saint Jude Thaddeus Church Livingston Ca.
Monday Aug 5th: Viewing at 9AM, Rosary at 9:30, Mass at 10:00 followed by graveside
service at Turlock Memorial Park.
