Margaret (Peggy) E. Perry, a lifetime resident of Merced County, passed away on September 18, 2023 at her home in Merced. She was born December 4, 1947. She attended St. Anthony School and Our Lady of Mercy High School. Peggy also attended Fresno State.
After graduation from Fresno State, Peggy worked for Merced County Human Resources as an intake worker. She wanted to be a social worker, but those positions were slow to become available and she was not willing to wait.
Peggy went on to become a bookkeeper for Pete’s Auto Body where she continued working till her death. She also took tax preparation classes and filed taxes for many people.
Peggy married the love of her life, Alvin (Al) Perry, in 1974 and was happily married for over 30 years. They were active in Toastmasters and both enjoyed cooking, woodworking, crafts and projects. They welcomed their only child, Josh in 1976.
After her husband’s death Peggy formed a group of women who met regularly at her home to socialize and work independently on their individual craft. The group became known as the WACKO’s – Women’s Arts & Craft Krafters Organization. It brought her much joy. Peggy was very talented and tried her hand successfully at many amazing crafts. She was very competitive and loved playing cards and board games.
In these last few years, the simple things in life became more important to Peggy like driving to Rahilly Park, sitting in the car and saying her rosary while enjoying the scenery.
Peggy always kept an upbeat attitude and smile while this devastating disease stole her life from her. She appreciated and valued her caregivers, neighbors and family. In spite of her pain and discomfort, Peggy often talked about how thankful she was for those that took care of her.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Al Perry, her brother Roger Rebeiro and her parents Evelyn and Albert Rebeiro.
She leaves behind her son, Joshua Perry, two granddaughters Brooke Perry, and Allie Sanders Perry.
