Marcial Ybarra, 74, of Merced, California, passed away on November 21, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1951, in Merced, California, to Carlos and Margie (Padilla) Ybarra. The family lived in Plainburg until Marcial was in elementary school, then moved to Planada, California. He attended Planada Elementary School and Le Grand High School.
Marcial was the eldest son of seven children. He is preceded in death by his father, Carlos Ybarra (1999), his mother, Margie Ybarra (2014), and his brother, Bobby Ybarra (2000). He is survived by his siblings Lupe (George) Herrera, Carlos (Mary) Ybarra, Margie (Phillip) Vargas, Joey (Sally) Ybarra, and Johnny (Maria) Ybarra, who will forever remember him as a hard worker, a team player, and a loving big brother. Growing up, the family played softball together, and Marcial’s strong work ethic and sense of responsibility were evident even then.
At the age of 19, Marcial met the love of his life, Adeline Carmen Bega, at one of “Blackey Gloria’s" dance parties at the Merced Fairgrounds. They courted for two years and later married in Merced, California. They made their home in Le Grand, California, for many years before eventually moving to Merced. Together they were blessed with three children: Marcial, Demetria, and Janell (Perry). Marcial also lovingly helped raise his nephew, Issac, who held a special place in his heart.
Marcial loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family, barbecuing tri-tip, and cheering on his beloved San Francisco Giants. He was a humble, loving, and giving man and an amazing grandfather to Nanette and Marcial Perry. He was truly the backbone of the family and was affectionately known as the “neighborhood grandfather,” always looking out for those around him.
Marcial is preceded in death by his daughter, Demetria (2018) and by a grandson (2017), whose memories remained close to his heart. Marcial also loved fishing for trout and bass at Yosemite Lake, where he found peace and joy in the outdoors.
Marcial worked at Ramirez & Sons for over 40 years. He began as a truck driver and eventually became a dispatcher. He loved his job, and the people he worked with were like family to him. After retiring in 2019, he spent his remaining years doing what he loved most—barbecuing tri-tip, fishing, and spending time with his family.
A memorial service for Marcial Ybarra will be held on December 10, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Wilsons Family Funeral Home, 525 w. 20th st, in Merced, California. In lieu of flowers, donations for funeral expenses and the family are respectfully requested.
