M. Marlene Taylor "Teixeira

Marlene (Sumner) Taylor (Teixeira), 80, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Elk Grove, California. Born on June 3, 1944, in Merced, California, Marlene lived a life marked by dedication to family, community service, and personal passions.

Marlene was a devoted parent to her sons Joe and Lloyd and shared a close bond with her daughters-in-law Linda, Susan, Samm, and Julie. She took great joy in her grandchildren—Tabitha, Daniel, Lisa, Katie, Shay, Michael, Josh, Chad, and TJ—and cherished the time spent with her great-grandchildren Abigail, Quinn, Maya, Kaysha, Anna, Travis, and Bailey. Marlene’s warmth extended beyond immediate family to include her brother-in-law Jim Teixeira. She was predeceased by their grandparents Dan and Virgie Britton and parents Margie and Paul Greenhaw.

A passionate bowler in her younger days, Marlene found joy in the camaraderie of the sport. Her love for community service was evident through her role as the treasurer of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9946 in Atwater, California. Known for being friendly and helpful in all she did, Marlene made a lasting impact on those around her.

A funeral service will be held on March 10, 2025, at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel in Atwater, California (1290 Winton Way) from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the service, a graveside ceremony will take place at Winton Cemetery (7651 Almond Ave., Winton) from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM. The graveside service will proceed rain or shine. A reception will be held at the VFW Post 7792 (7093 Walnut Ave #W, Winton, CA.)

Marlene’s memory will live on through the love she shared with family and friends. May her legacy bring comfort to those who knew her.
