Lucille Friesen

Today, Sunday, July 28, 2024 we say, "Goodbye", to our mom, Lucille Esther King Friesen, at age 100 and ½. Lucille was born on December 26, 1923 in Santa Cruz, CA, to Charles and Effie Houser King. She was the oldest of seven children with one surviving brother, Jackie King of Texas. She reached her end-of-life goal of being able to live at home on the Friesen Family Farm in Winton until the Lord Jesus Christ called her to her heavenly home. Lucille was a loving, caring person who was an inspiration to others. Her smile was enjoyed by all who met her. Her family and church family were very important to her. She had a strong work ethic and was a very organized person. Lucille was active in her community, serving as an election worker and a Brownie Leader and served faithfully at the First Church of God in Atwater. (Now called The Hope.) She and her husband David (1920-2008) welcomed many foster children into their home and lives. Lucille felt that it was important to let others know that things will work out if you put God first in your life. She also believed that prayer changes things and people! Lucille and David had many great times travelling in their RV. Farming with David took up most of their daily life. She was a fast and willing farm worker who cared for and harvested many crops. Lucille had some favorite pastimes including sewing, reading, word search, ceramics, quitting, swimming, puzzle making and a variety of crafts. She was such a great encourager and wrote cards and letters to give love and care to others. She will be missed by many, especially her three daughters, Janice Friesen, Wanda & John Conley, and Diana & Bob Stewart; and also, Clarence Beard, Serena Beard Garner, Duane & Connie Givens, Rickey and Heike Hodge and their wonderful families. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother to many.
