Jose A. Hernandez, Sr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jose A. Hernandez Sr., who died in his home on October 23, 2025, at the age of 79 in Atwater, CA. He was born on March 25, 1946, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. His parents were Julian and Eufrasia Hernandez.

Jose was a devoted husband and father. Jose was known for his sense of humor, strength, and his unwavering commitment to his family. He instilled the importance of keeping your word, the significance of a handshake, and the belief that his wife and children should always be united. He was a role model to all who knew him.

Jose served in the military branch of the Navy beginning in 1965 until he was honorably discharged in 1969. He was a veteran of Vietnam. Jose had a distinguished 30-year career at E&J Gallo Winery before retiring.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, watching Western movies, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Guadalupe; his children, Maria Cristela (Daughter), Jose Jr. (Son), and Damian (Son); his brother, Arturo Hernandez (Raymondville, TX), and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws

A memorial service will be held at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel 1290 Winton Way Atwater, CA 95301 on November 7, 2025, from 4 pm - 8 pm
(4 pm - 6 pm viewing, 6 pm - 7 pm Rosary, 7 pm - 8 pm Final Farewells).
