January 26, 1932 ~ September 13, 2023 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Obituary

Jan was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to William and Dorothy Knauss. In 1956 the family moved to Southern California where she met and married a handsome airman, Dominick Chiono. He was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base but soon transferred to Castle Air Force Base in Atwater. While there, they had two children. After a couple of moves with the Air Force, they ended up back in Atwater. Jan lived a total of 64 years in the area. Jan was a wonderful mother and homemaker and provided a loving home for her family. She was a gracious hostess and a wonderful cook. She loved music, yoga and wine! She is preceded in death by her husband, Dominick Chiono and her son, John Chiono. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Viorel. Jan was very loved and will be sorely missed. Sincere thanks are extended to the entire staff with At Haven Home and to Hinds Hospice for all the loving care they provided.
