Diane Marie Griffin-Newman – 64 of Atwater passed away peacefully in her home on January 2, 2024.
Diane was born October 2, 1959, in Johnston, Pennsylvania to the late William Griffin and Patrcia Parsley. Her father was a career Marine, their family relocated many times, giving Diane the opportunity to attend several schools throughout her childhood, eventually graduating from Clearwater High School in Clearwater, Florida in 1978. After graduation, Diane enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During her career she was stationed in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Pentagon. Her last assignment was in San Diego, California. Diane was very proud of her service to our country.
She came to Merced in 1982 and went on to have a very successful career of 19 years for Color Press as a Customer Service Accounts Manager. After leaving Color Press, she spent 12 years working for the Merced County Housing Authority before retiring to life a life of leisure with her beloved cats and her husband of 17 years, Micah Newman.
Diane was a genuinely kind and thoughtful woman, she loved the simple things in life and loved the beauty of the outdoors from the orange hues of a setting sun upon the ocean, the tall trees and fresh air in the forest and the crisp cold air from snowcapped mountains; but most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends and her fur-babies curled up in her lap.
She was deeply loved and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Diane is survived by her husband Micah Newman of Atwater, stepson Clinton (Laura) Newman of Germany, and siblings: brother David Griffin & sister Debbie (Scott) Kuebler both of Florida. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 12:00pm in Winton CA at the VFW located at 7093 Walnut Ave, in Winton CA. Lunch will be served following the service.
