Barbara Lyne Short, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at her home in Turlock, California.

She was born on August 08, 1941, in Great Falls, Montana, to Annabel Allen and Clifford L. Short.

Barbara lived a life filled with hard work and devotion to her family. Her background includes the Blue Berry Hill Café in Livingston as a waitress, operating a home-based childcare service and dedicating over 31 years to Motel 6 in Turlock, California where she concluded her working career.

Barbara’s personal life was enriched by her affection for dogs, card-playing games, dancing nights with family and friends; and watching her TV shows.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford L. Short and Anabel Allen; her brother, Clifford L. Short Jr.; and her grandson, Duane “DJ” Ledford Jr.

Barbara is survived by her two sons, Brian Lee Salado (Margie) and Johnny “John” Ray Baiz; her daughter, Lawana “Pudgy” Sue Salado; her grandsons, Brian Jr. (Katie), Eric (Jennifer), Timothy “TJ”, and Brian M.; her granddaughters, Xianti, Janelle, and Erica (Daniel); her twenty great-grandchildren; her nine great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia A. Cage (Billy), Flora Short, and Laure Shield; she also leaves behind many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Graveside Urn Ceremony will take place at the Winton Cemetery, 7651 Almond Avenue, Winton, on Thursday, May 28, 2026 @ 11:30am.
