Barbara Jean Cameron

On Monday morning, June 24th, with Jerry, her husband of 70 years, and family members at her bedside, Barbara Jean Cameron (90 years old) joined her infant child and her parents Roy and Grace Hill in heaven.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Jerry, their four children and spouses, Robert and Kathy Cameron of SC, Doug and Laura Cameron of Atwater, Sharon Morse of Atwater, and Julie and John Coate of Atwater, Barbara’s sister Nancy Berry of Fresno, CA and brother Terry Hill of El Dorado Hills, CA. Barbara and Jerry also have 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, with 2 more added later this year.

Barbara Jean (Hill) Cameron grew up in Ceres, CA, attending local schools and later Modesto Jr. College.  After marriage to Jerry Cameron in 1954, they raised their four children in the McSwain area. After obtaining her teaching credential, Barbara taught 20 years at Thomas Olaeta School in Atwater, CA. Barbara was a member of many service and professional organizations throughout her life, such as Delta Kappa Gamma, CA Retired Teachers Association, McSwain Community Club, and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Services and viewing will be held Monday, July 8, at New Life Community Church, 2124 First St., Atwater, CA. Private family viewing at 9:00, public viewing at 10:00, memorial service at 11:00 followed by lunch at the church. Graveside service will be Tuesday, July 9, 9:00 at Merced Cemetery District, 1300 B St., Merced, CA.
