His career was marked by dedication and skill. From 2003 to 2018, Augustine served as the locksmith for the Merced Union High School District, retiring in July 2018 after years of ensuring the safety and security of schools in his community. Prior to that, he was self-employed, providing maintenance and security services.
Augustine was a man of many passions. His hobbies included working with computers, CB radios, gardening, building projects, and enjoying music, especially Elvis Presley. His co-workers fondly nicknamed him "Elvis" because of his iconic haircut and sideburns, a look that made him truly unforgettable.
Augustine was preceded in death by his parents, Ramona Suvilla Guereque Chavez from Chihuahua, Mexico, and Jesus Corrales Chavez from Oaxaca, Mexico, as well as his brothers, Ines Chavez, Rodolfo Chavez, Antonio Chavez, and Luis Chavez.
