Alec Grissom "Junior"

July 9th 1953 – April 7th 2025

If you ever found yourself deep in conversation at a swap meet, tagging along to a drag race, or listening to a wild story that started with “Check out what I found,” there’s a good chance you were in the company of Junior.

A lifelong lover of Mopar, rock and roll, motorcycles and the thrill of finding treasure in someone else’s junk, he was the kind of guy who couldn’t resist a good deal—or a good story.

He worked a lot of jobs over the years, but most of them tied him to the land and the people who worked it. He hauled cattle, cut and baled hay, and during silage season, you could find him behind the wheel of his Peterbilt, hauling corn like it was the Daytona 500. He was proud of the work, proud of the truck, and proud of the life he built.

He was full of opinions, and usually pretty respectful about sharing them—though if you knew him well, you knew the eyebrow raise that meant you were about to hear the unfiltered version. He was also full of heart. He dropped by people’s houses just to check in, sometimes unannounced (okay, often unannounced), because he genuinely cared.

He played pool, darts, and horseshoes like they were competitive sports (because sometimes they were), and he dreamed big—even if the lottery didn’t always deliver.

He was a collector, a storyteller, a dreamer and most importantly a Dad and Grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alec and Nora and his brother Kenneth.

He is survived by his sister Kathy; sons Jason and Josh; Jody and Kibby, daughters of his second wife; nine grandkids; eleven great-grandkids; and all those he touched—whether for a moment or a lifetime.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming months, details will be shared with family and friends.
