Aaron Steven Evans, a lifelong resident of Merced, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, at the age of 51 after courageously battling brain cancer for four years.
Aaron lived his life with a smile on his face and a song in his heart. He truly enjoyed life and found joy in every day. He grew up with a love for sports, playing baseball throughout high school and college, and later playing softball and golf. No matter the sport or occasion, on the field or off, he cherished the camaraderie and the friendships he built, always enjoying time spent hanging out with friends.
In 2008, Aaron married the love of his life, Aleicia, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family, faith, and love. He was a devoted husband and proud father to their sons, Aaron Michael and Anders Evans, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Aaron proudly worked for Merced Irrigation District for nearly 18 years where he made lifelong friends who loved him like family.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Aleicia, and their sons; his brother, Eric Evans (Cindy); his sister-in-law, Amanda Maupin (J.R.), along with their children Carson, Chase, and Addyson, who adored their Uncle Aaron. He is also survived by his stepfather, Gary Hannen; his aunt, Jeanne Evans; and his loving parents-in-law, Michelle Latta (Russell) and Neil Johnson (Kathie).
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Steven Evans and Candace Palmer Hannen.
Aaron touched the lives of many and leaves behind a community who will remember him for his courage, warmth, sense of humor, and the deep love he shared so freely with his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on October 3rd at noon at Pellissier Farms, 2507 N. Arboleda Dr., Merced, CA 95340.
